The dove emoji shows an instantly recognizable all-white bird with a yellow beak, midflight. It is almost always holding an olive branch in its beak, except on Android and LG platforms. The emoji has a number of different meanings and can be used in multiple contexts. The dove is an international symbol of peace and reconciliation, and when sent as an emoji can mean that the sender wishes to call a truce or bring an argument to an end. It also has religious meanings to many Christians, where a dove is often evoked to symbolize the Holy Spirit, and so the emoji can be used to represent a number of Christian festivities such as Pentecost or Easter, and ceremonies, like baptisms or confirmations.
