Following a 2016 update, the guard emoji was assigned two genders. The man guard emoji is completely indistinguishable from the original, and shows a man in an Irish Guardsโ€™ uniform. He wears a tall, black, furry bear skin hat with has either a yellow or grey chin strap, depending on the emoji platform used. In most versions his scarlet uniform is also visible, and can show black epaulets and golden buttons. Itโ€™s primarily used to represent the city of London and of England, but it can also be used as a playful reference to protection of something or someone, or to guard something.
