An easily distinguished emoji due to its tightly closed eyes, meant to illustrate laughter. Its origins can be clearly traced to the very earliest days of text based smilies, in particular the โXDโ smiley and โ><โ which were used as some of the very first manual emojis. All versions retain these original v-shaped eyes, and it demonstrates excitement, gleeful anticipation and satisfaction, as well as the more generic emotions of joy and happiness. Like the other smiling face emojis, the smiling face with open mouth and closed eyes has a single row of white teeth in the vast majority of versions, save for Microsoft.
