The woman wearing turban emoji was introduced in 2016 to address a gender imbalance in the emoji universe, though it was perhaps an unnecessary addition. Whereas the man wearing turban emoji is used to represent those of the Muslim and Sikh faiths, this emoji has had to create a broader application, as in real life very few women wear turbans. Its most common application is to use it to refer to having just washed oneโs hair, with the cloth of the turban being interpreted as a towel. The female variant of this emoji is almost identical to the male one, though obviously with more feminine features and less facial hair!!
