The astonished face emoji is used to show shock or surprise, with a wide open oval mouth, meant to demonstrate the jaw dropping in astonishment or wonder. Teeth and occasionally the tongue are visible and often the eyebrows are raised. In recent updates, the eyes have been changed: originally the eyes were X-s, much like in the dizzy face emoji, but this made it difficult to tell the two emojis apart. Now, most versions show the eyes as circles, though LG and Messenger still retain this classic look. The emoji is used in response to shocking or amazing news or to a piece of quite astonishing gossip!
