3.0 version of Emoji was released in June 2016. It had six smiley faces. Nauseated and sneezing face became available to express poor health. Clown and cowboy faces added variation to the section. ROFL emoji that later became one of the most used expression was also part of the update. Several gestures like call me hand, crossed fingers, handshake, facepalming and shrugging provided a plethora of ways to convey through body language.

Olympic related emojis like medals, boxing gloves, martial arts uniform, wrestling, fencing, playing handball, celebrated the sports festival. Activities like dancing, cartwheeling were also made expressable in emoji language. Mrs. Claus joined Santa Claus and pregnant women were presented the emoji to express the joy of becoming a mother. Twelve different birds and animals accompanied the release. Ten different food items and three utensils delighted the epicures.
