The owl emoji is a versatile emoji which shows a cute, cartoony owl, with large eyes and a round body. On most platforms, the owl emoji is some shade of brown, though Samsung has opted for a particularly rotund, purple owl instead. The emoji is used in both literal and figurative contexts, and is often sent simply in the context of being sweet and cute. It is also very much associated with magic and wizards, and is used by die-hard Harry Potter fans while discussing their much loved franchise. It is also used to describe someone who is up late working or studying: a “night owl”.
