The lizard emoji comes in different shades and shapes, depending on the emoji platform used, though is almost always green and usually viewed from above. The Apple iOS version is the most elaborate and realistic, while most others have opted for a more cartoony look. It has a number of meanings and can be used in several contexts, such as when talking about rainforests, small animal and pets, or wildlife in general. Though the lizard looks more like a gecko than anything else, the emoji is also used figuratively to describe someone being like a chameleon and able to adapt to many different kinds of situations and settings.
