The blowfish emoji is also known as a puffer fish. It is extremely spiky and can blow itself up into a round balloon when it feels threatened or in danger. The emoji shows it in this rounded, puffed up state and can be a variety of colors from yellow to brown and blue, depending on the emoji platform used. The fish is known as fugu in Japan and is considered a major delicacy. As such, it is often used in conjunction with sushi emojis. Less specifically, it’s used to humorously say that you’ve eaten so much food you feel you’re about to explode!
