The dragon emoji is similar to the dragon face emoji, except that it shows the full body of the dragon and not just the head. The dragon is invariable a shade of green or aqua-marine, and frequently has an extremely elongated body characteristic of dragons in Japanese and Chinese mythology and literature. Some versions also show the dragon holding a glowing orb or ball of energy. It’s a fantastical beast, and is often used in the context of mythology, fantasy and folklore. It is also one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, so it is used even more frequently during the Year of the Dragon than at any other time.
