The disappointed face looks very similar to the slightly frowning face or pensive face, and actually could in fact be an amalgamation of the two! It has sad, down turned, closed eyed and a sad down turned mouth. As the name suggests, it’s used for when someone feels great disappointment or regret. It is an emoji greatly associated with sadness and is often known simply as the “sad face” emoji and is a direct descendent of the original text based emoji: :( . Confusingly, the Samsung version of this emoji looks more perplexed than sad, with a sideways mouth more reminiscent of the confused faced emoji than of a frown or sad face.
