One of three “stuck-out tongue” emojis – not including the “face savoring delicious food” emoji – the classic stuck-put tongue emoji has circular eyes, a crescent shaped open mouth, and an almost comically large tongue sticking from it. It’s used in circumstances that are silly or funny, or to signify that something is a joke, or shouldn’t be taken too seriously by the recipient. It can be used in almost any and every circumstance and hasn’t a specific context: depending on the situation, it can be flirty, fun, humorous, mocking or silly. It can also be used as a single character reply to a joke, or to again reiterate that the conversation shouldn’t be taken in 100% seriousness.
