One of a number of emojis which indicate sickness, the face with thermometer emoji shows a somewhat forlorn face with a thermometer protruding from a downturned, sad face. It is almost exclusively used to show that someone is feeling sick or feels certain they are about to become ill. Other emojis such as the face with head-bandage emoji suggest specific physical injury, whereas the face with thermometer can mean a more general sense of being unwell. More specifically, it’s used for colds, flus and occasionally hangovers too. It can also be used to indicate that someone is currently in hospital or at the doctor’s, especially when used in conjunction with other medical themed emojis. Generally, it is used to illicit some sort of sympathy or compassion.

So she sent you the 🤒 Face With Thermometer emoji. What's she really trying to say?
Historically, this emoji represented illness. Simply put, she might not be feeling her best. Maybe she caught a bug or just isn't her usual lively self. You might want to send her a "Get well soon!" or even a virtual bowl of soup.
Then again, modern use has broadened the meanings. It could be less about physical health and more about her state of mind. Overworked? Stressed? Or just 'sick' of a particular situation? It's a possibility. If she had a long day or is fed up with something, this might be her way of signaling that.
However, you've got to consider the context. If she's been hinting about something fun she's planning, maybe it's her way of setting up a playful "sick day" adventure!
Lastly, it's important not to overlook the fun side of emojis. She might just be playful, or maybe she's referencing a joke or shared memory between the two of you. Remember, context is everything!
