The locked emoji is depicted by a closed – presumably locked – metallic padlock. The main body of the padlock can be golden, silver or bronze, depending on the emoji platform used. It is quite versatile, and can be used to describe any situation or circumstance which is locked, unbreakable or unmoving. It can describe a situation which is under “lock down” or to say that a secret is secure. The symbol is also used in software and technology fields to indicate sites and pathways which are secure, and the emoji can be used in this context too. Alternatively, combined with a love heart emoji it can represent an everlasting, unbreakable bond.
