The memo emoji depicts a square or rectangular piece of white paper covered in writing and below a hovering pencil. The writing on the memo emojis is usually indistinguishable, though viewed magnified, the writing on Apple’s memo pad contains an excerpt from one of their iconic advertising campaigns of the late 90s and early noughties. The pencil is a yellow one, with the design taken directly from the pencil emoji. The emoji is used to “pencil in” a plan or to show that you have taken note of something. It can also be included to tell someone else that they must “take note” of a conversation or plan.
