The thumbs up emoji shows a single disembodied hand held in a fist except for the raised, fully extended thumb. The gesture is globally understood in the real world, as is the emoji it represents. It means approval, agreement, or to give the go ahead for a big plan or adventure, and can sometimes be used interchangeably with the OK hand emoji. Its default appearance is yellow on most platforms, though Samsung, HTC and Mozilla have all opted for a more realistic, light Caucasian skin color. Apple iOS allows for skin color modification to one of five additional skin tones, though this feature is not always supported across all devices.
