The Vulcan salute emoji is pretty specialized, though the emoji is still widely recognized globally. It shows a single raised right hand with the palm facing forward. The hand’s middle and ring finger are separated in a V-shape to recreate the classic Star Trek salute. Some emoji platforms allow for skin tone modification, otherwise the emoji appears yellow or with a pale Caucasian complexion. The emoji is used to represent Star Trek specifically and the sci-fi genre more generally, and can be used as a greeting between both super fans and casual viewers alike. The symbol is closely associated with the iconic Star Trek phrase: “live long and prosper”.
