Some emojis are more relatable than others, and when a girl in pink shirt emoji came out back in 2010, it became something of a universal sign that represented girly things, and it wasn’t just that these emojis were widely used in a completely wrong way, like the receptionist emoji, but that they soon became a regular caption to all those photos representing girl power. It became a sort of a public statement, used in chatting among girls and as a caption to pretty much anything, and that wasn’t the end of it as people found a way to turn the series of emojis into a heartbreaking story that we all can associate with, and some even shed a tear when reading it. We’ll do our best to remind you of the popular compilation that showed up on Twitter, and soon became viral trend. Walter Green, as the main figure behind the photo series that exploded on Twitter, used every emoji featuring a girl in pink shirt to share a story of an unsuccessful marriage, something that supposedly inspired the designer behind this emoji, and while that was never confirmed the story is still an interesting one, so let’s begin.
CH.1. You want to put a veil on my head?! in a marriage ceremony.
The story begins as the girl in a pink shirt talks with her boyfriend, and after a while, once he decides to propose, she acts surprisingly, and lifts her hands in a gesture to show her shock, and so the first chapter is born, while she points out the place on her head where her veil is supposed to be.
CH.2. No, I’m not into that.
Next chapter follows the girl in pink shirt as she gives her boyfriend negative answer, and tells him that she simply isn’t ready for that sort of commitment, and that she needs time to reconsider, or simply to see if she is ready to change her mind on this delicate matter. In any way, this chapter is her first response to her suitor, and the fact that most of the girls undergo the same thing when in similar situation.
CH.3. Just kidding.
In this chapter she finally decides to let her beloved one know, and decides to ignore her inside feeling that tells her not to marry this guy, so she tells him she was kidding, when she said it wasn’t her thing, getting married and everything, so she decides to let him know that she is here for him, and that he can be sure that she is ready to stick with him until the rest of his days.
CH.4. I am right here, lol, pick me.
Here, a girl in pink shirt decides to let him know she is up for it, and even though deep in her heart she feels as if this is going to be a mistake, she ignores it, as she is pretty reckless at this point, and the one that just isn’t thinking about the consequences that her actions might lead to, so like most of us, reckless souls she lets him that she is up for the challenge, and that not only she is serious about, but also is the one he can count on not to disappoint.
CH.5. Relaxing before the wedding.
In this chapter she decides to get some rest before the wedding fuss, and like most of the girls starts off with treating herself, either with the massage, or simply visit to her married friends, as she simply needs to blow some steam off, and she needs to do it as quickly as possible, as wedding preparations are in place already. Well, like we said, this chapter is all about girl that relaxes for the upcoming challenge and the process that will most definitely lead to something more than a simple relationship.
CH.6. I’m getting my hair done.
Here she decides to officially start off with getting her hair done, and all these tiny details that girls go through and that are supposed to make her feel like she is ready for the big move, and the popular views of married women that have short haircut as well as the usual thing, the new haircut, something that will make her more confident an ready for the married life.
CH.7. Manicure.
Next chapter also deals with the wedding preparations, and this emoji comes to play, as the girl in pink shirt is all about the color, so she opts for pink manicure and something that will make her feminine and likable to everyone, not just the person that she’s marrying, and as far as she is concerned at this point, she also has to live up to the model of ideal bride.
CH.8. Wedding.
Her wedding day is all about the white, and the fact that she is finally doing it, and at this point the girl in pink shirt is no longer the girl, she’s a married woman, and she’s living to her fullest, from the wedding day to her honey moon.
CH.9. Disappointment
At this point the story takes the wrong turn, as the girl realizes that the man she married isn’t the sweet boyfriend she’s been with, and she deals with the phase that simply makes her feel as if she made the wrong decision, but still it’s more of a shock that her sudden decision caused, and the fact that this is the choice that she herself made on her own account.
CH.10. The heartbreaking realization.
At this point, the story ends as she realizes that it’s her actions that caused this in the first place, and if she hadn’t made the decision in hurry she might have had a time to think and explore, and eventually she would learn the sad truth about him.
The story carries the universal message about the modern day marriage and the fact that sometimes, we all make those decisions without thinking about it.
