The folded hands emoji is one which conveys different meanings for different people and has been interpreted in multiple different ways. This can make it problematic, though it remains popular with many. In some versions it shows a person with their hands raised in front of their head, palms pressed together. This represents a Japanese gesture for please and thank you. Additionally, it is sometimes interpreted as a praying gesture. Other versions show the hands arranged in the same way but as disembodied. In this version, the emoji has the added interpretation of two hands high-5ing each other and can be used as encouragement or congratulations.
