The monkey emoji differs from the other monkey emojis available in that it depicts the entire body of the monkey and not just its head or upper torso. It is often said to represent a Japanese macaque, with a brown body, and with a lighter brown, white or yellow face, tummy and paws. It is usually depicted sitting down, though in the Google version, it looks like he is dangling from a tree branch in quite a monkey-ish fashion! The monkey emoji has almost the exact same meaning as the monkey face emoji and can be used interchangeably with it. It can identify something as being silly or funny, or used just to represent a monkey or wildlife in general.
