The nerd face emoji is quite similar to the smiling face with sunglasses emoji in that both wear glasses, but that’s where the similarity ends! The nerd face emoji has thick rimmed glasses and two noticeable buck front teeth which protrude from the open, grinning mouth. Although the term “nerd” can sometimes be used as an insult – and no doubt the nerd emoji is used as an insult from time to time – it also has positive connotations and self-congratulatory properties. This can be used when either the sender or the recipient has achieved excellent grades, or has simply said something clever or intelligent. It’s also used quite frequently as an ironic statement.
