One of a number of tool emojis available, the nut and bolt emoji shows a grooved bolt – or screw – inserted partially into a bolt. It is invariable shown as grey or a metallic silver, and is often shaded and highlighted to give it a three-dimension aspect. It can be used in a variety of situations, such as to describe odd jobs and repairs at home, or by those working in repair workshops or who work in construction. Additionally, it can sometimes be used to represent the English metaphor ‘a screw loose’, to suggest that someone has done something bizarre or unhinged.
