The pushpin emoji is one of two similar emojis, both in appearance and meaning. It depicts a push pin – or thumb tack – with a characteristically shaped red, plastic head and a metallic nail or pin. Push pins are used to attach notes or pictures onto walls or cork boards and are common organizational tools found around the world. The emoji is used to say that a plan or idea is put in the diary, or will soon be put into effect. It can also be used like in the idiom “getting down to brass tacks” meaning to discover the basic facts about a situation.
