The closed mailbox with raised flag emoji belongs to a group of mailbox emojis. It depicts a standard outdoor mailbox which is commonly used in North America. It shows a small metallic house or box on a pole, with a moveable red flag raised upwards. The box is blue on most platforms and occasionally – as with Samsung and EmojiOne – is emblazoned with the word MAIL. In the United States this is a symbol to show that there is mail to be collect either by the postman or the homeowner. Emojidex is the only emoji platform not to use an American style postbox for its emoji and instead goes for a more internationally recognizable one.
