Koalas are – in theory anyway – cute and cuddly little Australian marsupials, and the koala emoji is used in all contexts cute and cuddly too! Almost all versions of the emoji show the face of the koala only, with its rounded ears and distinctive large nose. Android is one of the notable exceptions and it pictures the full body of the koala, clinging to the trunk of a tree. The koala emoji can be used when discussing exotic wildlife, zoos or animals in general, as well as being occasionally employed as a term of endearment. Being a symbol of Australia, it is also widely used when talking about the country and its people.
