Most of us are familiar with 45 degreed lines bisecting each other from the middle. The sign means multiplication but is also used to show a connection a person has with a thing, place, or other person. Being resemblant to cross sign, ✖️ can be used to deny a fact or to boycott anything. Extreme sports fan sometimes use the cross emoji showing how dangerous the sport is.

This is one of the first emojis introduced in Unicode 1.1 in July, 1995 which was after several years added to very first version of Emoji 1.0 in August, 2015. Type A-2 update by au by KDDI was the first to bring in Multiply emoji on May 1, 1999. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung added the emoji after a long gap on March 8, 2012, July 9, 2012, October 26, 2012, April 27, 2013 respectively.
